Friday, December 07, 2012 Slough Jets add defenceman Greg Pick to the line-up
Greg comes to the Jets fresh from time in America where he has spent time playing and honing his skills. He learned his hockey as part of the Nottingham Junior Programme before moving to America to further his development. He’s represented National Sports Academy Varsity, West Michigan Midget Hounds and Philadelphia Little Flyers. Now back in the UK Greg has linked up with the play-off champion Slough Jets for the remainder of the 2012/13 season. There’s sport in the blood as Greg is the son of former Nottinghamshire fast bowler Andy Pick who enjoyed a professional cricket playing career spanning 14 years. Head Coach Slava Koulikov said of his latest acquisition; “I’d like to welcome him on board. He is a 19 year old British guy who has spent the last 4 years abroad. He emailed me a couple of weeks ago asking for a try out and I was excited. It couldn’t come at a better time for us as Aaron and Sam are going away with the GB Under 20 team and he will fill Sam’s spot. He’s an exciting prospect who really came across well when we spoke and I’m really looking forward to working with him and having him as a part of my team.” On joining the Jets Greg commented; “Coming home after being away for 5 years and coming to slough I feel is a great opportunity for me. I had heard very good things about Slava and the organisation, and it seemed like a really good fit. They have had a lot of success in the past and for a young player such as myself it is a good team to be a part of. I hope to make an Impact in the league this year, to improve as a player and do whatever i can to help what is already a very good hockey club”. Greg Pick shoots right handed.
