After facing the Raiders from Romford on Saturday Slough Jets travelled to the Isle of Wight to face the league’s other Raiders on Sunday night.

It didn’t take long for the pattern the game was to follow to fall into place as Steve Slater was called for a roughing penalty at 1.45 and just 7 seconds after the home team returned to full strength they slipped a goal behind at Gary Wishart opened the scoring at 3.52. Slough took the next penalty but managed to double their lead when Joe Ciccarello netted shorthanded at 8.48 and again at 12.20 with a powerplay goal. Just 14 seconds later Steve Moria scored his first goal on debut and soon after Wightlink’s Player/Coach Jason Coles and starting netminder Adam Dobson were both ejected from the game along with Slough’s Terry Miles. Nicky Watt (17.15), Kyle Horne (18.20) and Watt again (19.43) all chipped in with powerplay goals to give Slough an unanswered 7 goal first period lead.

After a rough first period the game settled down in the second period and Scott Carter finally got the home team on the board at 28.47 but honours were shared I the middle period when Joe Ciccarello completed his hat-trick at 35.53.

Slough were shorthanded early on in the third period when they took a too many men penalty but killed off the advantage easily. Wightlink were shorthanded at 45.16 with a tripping call against Ashley Skinns and Scott McKenzie buried the chance to make it 1-9 at 46.06. A period of 4 on 4 play and a further powerplay to Slough didn’t change the scoreline and Slough claimed a comprehensive win.
